About
Prologue
I’m Misty, designer, creator, and founder of Charlie’s Goods.
Creativity has always been how I make sense of the world, whether through design, décor, cooking, or simply shaping something beautiful and useful with my hands. I’m a minimalist at heart, drawn to simplicity, natural textures, and timeless design. My work is about creating timeless pieces that feel lived-in, valued, and made to last.
How It Started
I stumbled into leather smithing by chance, it wasn’t something I ever imagined doing, or even knew the first thing about. I just knew I loved a good leather tote bag, but I could never find a style right for me or if I did, I couldn't afford it. In 2018, a local weekend workshop opened up to make your own leather bag. I didn’t expect much, I just thought it would be a fun way to creatively spend a weekend and get a bag out of it.
Unfortunately, the bag didn’t turn out the way I hoped it would, BUT, There was something about the process that completely hooked me. It showed me the basics of Leather working; Cutting, dying, stitching, and shaping the leather, all done by hand. It was a steady rhythm of the work, and it felt satisfying to turn raw material into something real and useful.
After that workshop I ordered a few basic leather tools and some of them I had no idea what they were used for. I jumped right in and YouTube became my friend. My early pieces were rough, uneven stitches, imperfect edges, but I loved the process: sketching a design, cutting by hand, burnishing, stitching slowly until everything came together and eventually, I found my own style.
With the steady encouragement of my husband and friends, what began as a simple creative outlet became something much bigger than I ever expected. I started sharing what I made. One bag turned into a few, and a few turned into a small business and before I knew it, Charlie’s Goods was born.
I never thought I’d go from sitting behind a desk to running my own business and working as a leather smith and designer. It wasn’t something I planned — it just grew naturally, piece by piece. And since then, It’s a special feeling to walk into my studio everyday and do something I love.
Who’s Charlie?
The name Charlie’s Goods is a tribute to my dad, Charlie, or “Chuck,” as everyone called him. He loved rock and roll, lived simple, and did things his own way.
Despite a rough start in life, he showed me what resilience really looks like. He was a blue-collar man through and through: hardworking, loyal, and quietly brilliant when it came to mechanics. He didn’t say much, but when he did, it mattered.
He was a rock-and-roll soul with calloused hands and a good heart. This brand is my way of carrying a bit of him with me. A mix of grit, simplicity, and unapologetic authenticity that never goes out of style. Naming my brand after him just felt right.
What You Can Expect
Every piece is handmade, designed with intention and care by my own two hands. I focus on functionality, longevity, timeless style and use high quality materials that age beautifully. These pieces are meant to be used, worn, and loved for years to come. They are made for someone who values craftsmanship and the quiet details.
Epilogue
This brand is built from the ground up, by hand, and grit. The process isn't rushed. It's slow and intentional. I hope that whoever ends up with one of my pieces will love it for years. There’s something special about knowing that something I made with my hands becomes part of someone else’s everyday life.
